Juliana Atuesta started her dance studies in The National Ballet School of Cuba (Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba) where she perform in festivals and competitions, such as III,IV,V and VI “International Ballet Encounter and Competition“, one in which she obtained bronze medal. In the year of 2000 the National Ballet School of Cuba awarded her with the title of Professional Ballet Dancer and Ballet Teacher. Then, she got a scholarship in order to continue her studies at the Ballet School of the Vienna State Opera. At her return to Colombia she has accepted at Los Andes University where she was graduated as a Historian with an emphasis in Art History and Theory. She was certificated as a Pilates Instructor (Mat and Reformer) at the Pilates Academy in Bogotá. Juliana worked as a teacher, choreographer and rehearsing director at The Priscilla Welton Ballet Foundation, The School of Artistic Formation EFA, The Superior Academy of Arts from Bogotá ASAB, and L´Explose Dance Company. In 2004 Juliana founded Atempo, where she developed her practice as teacher, choreographer, and dance researcher until 2008. She is currently attending Dance Unlimited Master Program in Choreography at Artez Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, Netherlands.
